Alan John Ainsworth is an independent writer and professional photographer in the fields of architecture, design, jazz and photographic history.

After being awarded a Ph.D. by the University of Warwick I followed a successful business career in London from which I retired in 2006 to focus on photography and writing. I live and work in Edinburgh. My interests include architecture and design, travel, jazz, classical music and opera.

I have been a photographer for over 40 years. I have an extensive body of work in urban, architectural and performing arts photography, especially jazz.
